Dr. S. M. Abdur Razzak is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at Rajshahi University of Engineering & Technology (RUET). He earned his Ph.D. in Electronics and Information Engineering from the University of the Ryukyus, Japan, in March 2010. Previously, he obtained an M.Eng. degree in EEE from the same university in September 2007. He also holds both M.Sc. Eng. and B.Sc. Eng. degrees in EEE from RUET (formerly Bangladesh Institute of Technology, Rajshahi), awarded in 2005 and 1998, respectively.

Following his undergraduate studies, he joined the Department of EEE at RUET as a Lecturer in June 1999. He was subsequently promoted to Assistant Professor in April 2003, Associate Professor in May 2011, and Professor in July 2013. Dr. Razzak served as the Head of the Department of EEE from 2013 to 2015 and as the Dean of the Faculty of Electrical & Computer Engineering at RUET from 2017 to 2019.

His research primarily focuses on the modeling of light propagation through microstructured optical fibers for electro-optic device applications. His work has been widely published in prestigious, peer-reviewed international journals, including those of IEEE, SPIE, ACS, APS, IET, Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, Springer, IEICE, APSJ, and Optica (formerly OSA). Dr. Razzak has received numerous awards in recognition of his research and academic achievements. Notably, he received the United Group Paper Award in 2019 and Best Paper Awards at IEEE H10 HTC 2019, ICEEE 2015, and the 3rd ICECTE in 2022. One of his thesis students also won the UGC Award in 2016 for a co-authored paper. He was named a Young Affiliate of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) for the 2013–2018 term, representing Central and South Asia.
