Engr. Mahmud Hossain is presently serving the Advisor to the Chairman of the Grameen Telecom Trust and Member of the Board of Accreditation for Engineering and Technical Education (BAETE). He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) in 1989 from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET); MBA (Finance) in 1995 from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Dhaka University (DU); and M.A.Sc. (Telecommunication) in 2004 from the Concordia University, Canada.

Engr. Hossain has long experience in various capacity of engineering and administrative roles. He has 30 years of work experience, with 17 years in C-level leadership positions in large & reputed corporations. He served as the Director at Optima Engineering PA; Chief Business Officer at Grameenphone Ltd; Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Grameenphone Ltd; General Manager at Grameenphone Ltd; Chief Technology Officer at Bangla Trac Communications; Chief Technology Officer at BracNet; Chief Technology Officer at Tele Barta Limited; Additional General Manager at Grameenphone Ltd and Engineering Manager and Sr. System Engineer at Pacific BD Telecom Ltd.

He is a Life Fellow (F/7293) of the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh (IEB).
